  3. So the Kings Coronation is taking place on the 6th of May at 11am. Whats your thoughts on it? Its costing over £100million too... Should this take place? Should we be spending this money on something productive in the current climate? According to LBC Radio, this money would hire enough people to clear the entire asylum backlog in 1 go or take thousands of homeless off the street and get them back on their feet, but instead, we're celebrating 1 person taking over the Monarchy... Is it right? Should we still have a royal family? Do we need them? Accounts for the Sovereign Grant, which funds the Monarchy's household's official expenses, released in June of 2022 show that they cost the taxpayer £102.4m during 2021-22 – an increase of 17% from the previous financial year. According to Brand Finance, the UK monarchy’s annual contribution to the UK economy was £1.76bn in 2017 alone and isnt declining. So as a business, The Royal Family is very profitable for the UK, and UK brands abroad that carry a Royal Warrant or a Coat of Arms.
  4. The capital’s mayor Sadiq Khan is proposing to extend the Ulez boundary from the North and South Circular Roads to the whole of Greater London from August 29 2023, with the consultation being conducted by Transport for London. Drivers of vehicles that do not comply with minimum emissions standards are charged a daily fee of £12.50 for entering the zone. Analysis by the PA news agency found that more than 3.5 million more people will live within the Ulez if it is expanded as planned. The mayor’s office estimated that an additional 135,000 vehicles would be affected per day. It warned that the capital is suffering a “toxic air crisis”, with around 4,000 premature deaths in 2019 attributed to filthy air. The boroughs of Barnet, Bromley, Croydon and Havering had the most deaths, demonstrating that poor air quality “is not just a central London problem”, according to Mr Khan’s office. Whether or not a vehicle is liable for the Ulez charge depends on how much nitrogen dioxide (NO2) it emits. NO2 damages lungs and can exacerbate existing conditions such as asthma and lung and heart disease. For diesel cars to avoid the charge they must generally have been registered after September 2015, while most petrol models registered from 2005 are exempt. Mr Khan previously ruled out introducing a Clean Air Charge, which would have affected drivers of all but the cleanest vehicles. He also decided not to go ahead with a proposal to charge drivers of vehicles registered outside London for entering the capital This would mean existing vehicles users would pay at least an additional £3120/yr just to keep using their vehicles. Business vehicles would be paying more. What are your thoughts on this?
  5. Welcome to your new London Neighbours Community! The London Neighbours Project avoids all of the social media algorithms and censorship that create tunnel vision and all of the self appointed "page admins" that kick people out just for saying things they might not like or agree with. All opinions are valid and without a balance, things get very 1 sided and isolated on Social Media platforms. So my aim here is to build a community of Londoners where everybodies opinions can be heard without fear of upsetting any moody mods or admins and things remain civil, without all of the spam and child-like squabbling. Like a cross between LinkedIn and Facebook, without the automated censorship and the "pedestal sat" page admins, with the ability to find information easily, anytime. So long as things remain civil and people stick to facts and enjoy themselves, then we'll build a great community together, without any US based companies getting involved. This entire project, the software and hosting is self-funded, so if you do see any ad's appear, dont be alarmed, community websites can be very expensive to operate, but provide a far greater amount of freedom and content organisation... No "timeline posts that vanish the next day" either. I hope you'll take part and become part of the voice of Londoners among their Neighbours.
